Welcome to J. J. Weyward, where quality, traditional craftsmanship, and thoughtful design come together.
Based in Maryland, we're a small-batch craft goods studio run by a married couple dedicated to creating durable, timeless, and functional pieces designed to last a lifetime.
Our Story
I've always loved when an everyday object gets better with age, the patina we wear into the objects we love. However, I've been disappointed in the past with clothing and wallets that sooner wear out rather than wear in.
I started working in leather because I was really disappointed in a wallet and watch band I had worn out much quicker than expected. I'm an artist, so I felt capable of translating some of my existing skills into leather working. I made my first wallet and I've been hooked ever since; working hard to grow my knowledge of how leather works and how to produce the highest quality piece.

The Craftsmanship & Process
At J. J. Weyward, every piece is made by hand. John serves as the craftsman from carefully selecting premium, full-grain leathers to cutting, beveling, hand-stitching, and finishing each edge.
Behind the scenes and beside the bench, John works alongside his wife, Jennie, who helps guide the creative process, operations, and finishing touches that bring every product to life.
We believe that true quality takes time:
Premium Materials: We source high-grade, vegetable-tanned, and specialty leathers that age gracefully, developing a rich, unique patina over time.
Hand-Stitched Durability: Our pieces are saddle-stitched by hand, a stronger stich than machine stitching, ensuring that your leather goods won't unravel even after years of daily wear.
Timeless Utility: Our designs focus on minimalist elegance and everyday functionality, stripping away unnecessary excess so the beauty of the natural leather shines through.
Built for the Long Haul
Leather is a material with memory; it records every journey, story, and daily wear-and-tear. Whether it’s a daily carry wallet, a durable belt, or a custom notebook cover, our goal is simple: to make leather goods that you are proud to carry every day and maybe even pass down to the next generation.
Thank you for supporting small-scale American craft and being a part of our story.
